Correct Use of Condoms

When you buy a condom check that the expiry date has not passed and that the outer covering looks in good conditions. Keep a supply of condom conveniently at hand either in the home or in your bag. Keep it somewhere cool and where they will not be crushed or exposed to direct sunlight. Use one each time you have intercourse and use them only once.

1. Do not test a condom by infecting or stretching it.
2. Handle it gently and be careful of tearing it with sharp fingernails.
3. Put condom on before inserting the penis, either the man or the women can put the condom on the penis.
4. Unroll the condom on the erect penis. The condom must be placed with the rolled portion out so that it will unroll properly.

5. The small sack at the end should be pinched to remove the air. ,otherwise it can burst from the pressure of the ejaculated semen. 6. If desired, lubricate the outside of the condom using contraceptive jelly, water – soluble lubricant or even saliva.

7. Do not use a petroleum – based lubricant such as Vaseline as this will weaken the condom.

8. After ejaculation, be sure that the condom does not become dislodged from the penis. Hold the rim of the condom firmly against the base of the penis during withdrawal. Dispose off the condom somewhere where children will not find it.
